the fanfic title meme

procrastinating as usual. stolen from[personal profile] scripsi.

1. how many are you happy with? most of them.

2. how many are... not great? mmmmmaybe melting and Kitsune could've used more thought, but that's fine. They're both brief ficlets.

3. how many did you scramble for at the last minute? oh lord, i don't even remember but probably most of them. i almost never have a title in mind when i start writing, and for some of them i had very strict deadlines.

4. how many did you know before you started writing, or near the beginning? i'm pretty sure something about seattle was one of the rare fics that i picked the title even before writing it. policy of truth was my blackwatch big bang entry and it was explicitly titled after a fic that is very dear to me, that came to mind while i was plotting.

5.how many are quotes from songs or poems? eight. im very bad with titles so i always pull the song-lyric-as-title trick. to be fair i try to pick very obscure ones. i've apparently been doing it less, lately? it's definitely a lower number than i expected.

6.how many are other quotes? none.

7. which best reflects the plot of the story? probably something about seattle, since it's set in seattle, and ritual humiliation, where hanzo has an humiliation kink and asks jesse to bring him under so he doesn't think about his ritual visit at genji's grave. oh and also complementary colours, which is loosely about clothes (although it also refers to the characters' personalities).

8. which best reflects the theme of the story? probably work in progress, which refers much to the fact that Zenyatta isn't fully grown into the character we know him as, but he's getting there.

9. which best reflects the character voice of the story? probably the triad so much of life ahead/we'll start out walking and learn to run/a kiss for luck and we're on our way.

10. which is your favorite? i don't really know to pick, but as i answered the questions i think i really like how lost in the blood has a nice double meaning: it's about genji, and it refers to the gore of an assassin's life but also to his difficult history with family bonds.

turns out i'm not that bad at giving titles to my work, huh.
