fandom snowflake challenge #13

Challenge #13: share fandom resources
i almost didn't do this part of the challenge because i didn't really think i was going to have anything useful to share but then i realized that the hundreds of links i got squirreled away in my bookmarks might actually come useful to someone, so here we are.

The Witcher-specific resources
If you have been following my posts, I bet you're really surprised /s
- a general wiki and the witcher 3: wild hunt wiki
- bookverse map and a history of witcher maps
- another bookverse map
- the witcher 3: wild hunt interactive map
- the official netflix map and timeline
- Visual guide to Geralt's scars | TW3 game model
- A guide to Kaer Morhen's interior (tw1) | twitter thread with pictures!
- About witcher mutations and the trials | As told by Eskel in tw1 + additional lore, a twitter thread.
- Quick guide to lutes | to properly write about the bard's craft
Other writing tools
Softwares, plug-ins and other nifty things. They're mostly free + paid extra features.
- ao3 plugin for gdocs | turns a formatted gdoc into html.
- gingko app | outline tool that combines lists, outlines and cards (100 cards per month / 10 documents in total)
- notebook.ai | worldbuilding tool to keep track of lore (5 universes, unlimited characters, unlimited locations, unlimited items.)
- trello | card-based board, i use it to keep track of plots/commissions (10 boards, unlimited cards/lists, 1 power-up per board)
- Shaxpir | word processor, very aesthetically pleasing (pay for more fonts)
- Notion.so | database manager + word processor, useful for a wiki-style lore database (free for personal use)
The only paid option I'm suggesting is Scrivener (one-time payment, €53/$65-ish?). I know you're thinking "I'm not going to pay 60 bucks to write fanfiction" and I agree — if my friends hadn't gotten it for me on Christmas a couple years ago I would've never gotten it for myself. But it's a really nice tool to have, it lets you do a bunch of things all on one software, it's so versatile you can literally make it look like a different software if you get bored of its default settings (I had this issue often, which made me switch between processors all the time), and the 3.0 version lets you do even more things on Mac I wouldn't know because Windows is still stuck on version 1.0.
Let me know if you found any of these useful!
