you know the brainrot is really getting to you when you open your media tracker and you're like "oh right, i did that". i have no recollection of the months before november, but hey, there was stuff before astarion took over my life, check it out.

main fandoms
it might come as a shock, but baldur's gate took over my fucking life. the funniest thing about it is that i haven't even played it yet, because my pc doesn't run it and i don't own consoles. i am working on it, but at eighteen stories written in the span of a couple months, it really deserve the spot. honorable mention to the raven cycle/dreamers trilogy, bc they were the big drive for the first half of the year, though.

good films
there aren't a lot to choose from bc i struggle watching movies by myself lately, so most of the things i've watched this year i watched with people. top three from this year's limited choice: barbie, because it's a good time and it's the most surreal thing i've seen a mainstream pop movie pull, nimona, because it's a fucking good time, and bullet train, because i can't help this sort of self-indulgent twisty action movie.

them books
shout out to my friend who patiently waited years for me to finally start the realm of the elderlings series by robin hobbs and then watched me lose my mind over the fool, because i'm nothing if not predictable. i'm currently reading the second trilogy (which i'm struggling with a little because the traders/pirate ship setting isn't really my cup of tea) but i ate up the first one and i'm looking forward to the rest. i also re-read the whole raven boys/dreamers trilogy saga, which is still close to my heart, and i'm going to mention the non-fiction i read this year just because 1) i finally did it 2) it's one book about queer christianity and two books about bdsm etiquette lmao. the sacred and the profane (the real question is, where does one start and the other end?)

what about the music
if you look at my spotify wrapped, it's fifty-fifty between traditional irish music (because of the whole irish fiddle full-immersion thing i did) and trashy russian rave. it tracks and tells you everything you need to know about my year (ronan lynch-coded playlists).

serial tv and animated neighbors
i did some serious catching-up with various anime shows in the first half of the year, but i have nothing to write home about except maybe buddy daddies, that was a good time and had a boy shaped like one of my blorbo-ocs and i immediately got attached. got acquainted with friends' the owl house blorbos-in-law and had an excellent time of it (hoped to have brain RAM to get in the fandom but it didn't happen, i got spoiled with excellent writing lmao). also shout out to helluvaboss bc it always gets me going when a new ep comes out. pleasantly surprised that i didn't hate witcher s3? i was happy with the banquet scene (which i loved in the books), they gave us some emhyr/cahir content i didn't know i wanted, and jaskier/radovid works well enough.

the gamer corner
baldur's gate!!!!! just kidding, i haven't actually played it so it doesn't count. i did play dishonored though, finally: it's really not my kind of game, i had to cheat/mod the hell out of it to play it, but i had a lot of fun with the world and the lore and corvo. overwatch 2 had me on/off in a grip bc they gave me a new hot omnic boyfriend for zenyatta and i'm extremely weak. *shakes tin cup* spare zen lore? anyway, disappointed in myself for not playing any of the ttrpg i saved from itch.io, i have to do better this year.

fandom discovery
wait for it-- baldur's gate!!!!! as i mentioned, i went batshit insane for astarion and neighbors, and it's been pushing me out of my writing comfort zone, and i'm trying new things, and i'm making new friends and! and! and! yeah. best fandom discovery.

all the ragrets
this is where i should mention greywaren i guess, but i am not actually disappointed in it? there's horrible things i hate about it and that i love ranting about, but my finger keeps hesitating as it hovers on the speed-dial 'whole book removal services' button. i am also hesitant about good omens s2 bc disappointment isn't the right word but i am still definitely conflicted about it. i think it was written well, for the story that it wanted to tell: i'm not sure i liked the story they told, though. so i guess we'll see what comes next.

squee moment of the year
baldur's gate!!!!! yeah okay, i'll pick something else. mmm helluvaboss episodes with fizzarolli. there. i love him and his big demon boyfriend and his murdery imp ex-boyfriend and i think they should call stolas over and kiss right in front of moxxie so he can blow a fuse about inappropriate workplace behavior. also fitz/the fool in assassin's quest ;; i love them your honor

missed old fandom
i do miss the witcher, a little. i have been reading a lot of my friends' roche/ioverth, and bomberqueen17's spectacular epic, but apparently i'm done with writing for it. which makes me sad, because i do have a bunch of plots stashed away. also i've been missing writing for overwatch of all things- i almost revived an old draft i had lying around. maybe in the future? it's not unheard of, from me.

fandom to try next year
sorry i cannot hear you over the noise of baldur's gate!!!!! plots that still haunt me. honestly i don't even know, i'm really happy where i am for now.

looking forward to
i haven't kept an eye on future releases so i don't even know what's coming up (except maybe alecto) but i have a bunch of things to catch up with, so i'll do that. among other things, i want to be better at chipping through my ttrpg games (i have a veritable pile of them in my itch.io account) and a few podcasts i was recced by friends.

collie i love it when you post to dreamwidth

and i love how much you've written and squeed this year. i love this for you. cheering you onnnnnnnn. ♥

god i had such book-reading ambitions but all my ambitions got demolished by my fuck-all of a year interviewing and job hunting. gonna try to make this year better and more balanced for myself.

raven cycle has been on my to read (and shadow and bone to watch) list for awhile. hoping to do that one this year, maybe. we'll see. i'll probably be goin g deep into final fantasy since the new game drops in feb but ahhhh. so many feelings for so many things. and i still have so many witcher wips i want to finish before expanding my writing elsewhere.

I was thinking, "oh, someone else in my f-list consumed by BG3" but I'm fairly sure you're the first one who was consumed without actually playing the game 😂 Enjoy the fandom and inspiration (and game, when you can :D) \o/
