Reviewing 2025 | Fandom
i did so much eating this year (and very little cooking– but that’s for another post). setting weekly habits w friends will do that to you!
▲ main fandoms
this is kind of a difficult section to fill out this year, bc i feel like i’ve been spending a lot of time in small spaces that are mostly friends’ characters and also my own personal brainrot. baldur’s gate 3 is still very present (especially now that i started playing the game for real!) but the rest of my braincells have been dedicated to the under garden (and other instances of MAFverse…) and original characters. special mention to IWTV, mostly bc of armand.
▲ good films
absolute record of film-watching (thanks to friends). it was a lot of well-made trash for fun, a lot of horror-adjacent stuff (which is a genre i would like to explore more, cross-media too) and a few of things that i have been wanting to cross off my list since they came out, basically. if i only had to mention three, i would pick мастер и маргарита (2024), the lighthouse (2019) and sinners (2025)
▲ them books
very satisfied w this year! put a sizeable dent into the elderling saga by robin hobb, which was the main goal for this year. i also finally read the entirety of murderbot by martha wells (which i loved to pieces) and had a very nice surprise w the broken earth trilogy by n.k. jemisin. i have mixed feelings about the ending, but it definitely got shelved into my heart as one of the best series i’ve ever read.
▲ what about the music
i sucked ass again at tracking my music consumption, but i can safely say that it’s been a year of blorbo playlists, fiddle music compilations, and …bbno$, according to my tidal wrapped (courtesy of friend support, i finally ditched spotify)
▲ serial tv and animated neighbors
top quality reality tv aside (boulet brothers ftw) all the serials i watched this year were top notch. severance was absolutely insane. i loved taboo, for the production value and for the themes (love sinking my teeth into chewy stuff) and murderbot, despite the deviations from the og material (adaptation be adapting, and i cannot be mad when the changes look like they were made for me).
▲ the gamer corner
i had a very brief moment of insanity where i fell back into arcana w both my feet (entirely blaming friends) for a hot minute but — guys i finally started playing baldur’s gate 3 !! fr fr !! the good news is that since i was excited i started fifteen runs all at once; the bad news is that, since ps5 is ridiculous, i can only save a bunch of data before it starts complaining about lack of storage, so i’m sticking to a couple of them for now (hit act 3 on my main just before the end of the year!) it’s really a great game, every time i play im shocked at how good it is.
▲ fandom discovery
i want to say murderbot. even if i don’t think i will ever write anything for it, and i knew i was going to like it, it almost surprised me with how good it really was.
▲ all the ragrets
the rain wild chronicles. listen— i swear i love hobb’s writing, but these books could have been an email. i appreciated seeing again characters from the other books, and i liked some of the storylines, but they all had a meandering sort of quality that just had me struggle all the way. i did read them pretty fast bc at some point i couldn’t take it anymore, i just didn’t care enough. the worldbuilding is always fascinating. another disappointmente was metro 3033— set up seemed to hint at some incredible plot, but in the end it didn’t go anywhere. it was interesting, there were some very cool and spooky moments, but it was mostly disappointing.
▲ missed old fandom
can i say all of them? ive been writing so little this year, i actually miss all my blorbos. ive been thinking about them all the time but it’s not the same thing, you know?
▲ fandom to try next year
i kinda want to write a specific missing moment from the broken earth trilogy, but honestly idk if i’ll have the spoons for it anytime soon. i don’t have any real curiousity to explore new lands— not when ive got so many of my own to still explore
▲ looking forward to
i have a SYML concert coming soon, so that’s exciting (i haven’t been to see live music in forever). beside i’m also excited about the new IWTV season (i don’t know when it’s dropping but i keep seeing promo stuff for it so hopefully soon?) and i hope we hear soon from tamsyn muir about alecto…

no subject
I have marched right through Act 1&2 in ...I want to say no time, but apparently it's been 60 hours. Faster than my first run, but I have also modded everything to hell and back so I can steamroll most combat. I'm here for the story and the photomode this time, and for making the steamroller as efficient as possible.
