i’m late as fuck with this post but it’s fine. so apparently 2024 continued the trend that i picked up at the end of 2023 and wrote, wrote, wrote. it's my most productive year so far, even. on one hand i’m proud of myself; on the other hand i’m dreading this post lmao. my saving grace is that many of the things that i wrote aren’t available so i’m giving priority to those that can be read… but also i’ll be a cryptic fuck about those that can’t, why not.

the way i had to literally open my trackers bc i have no idea what happened to my media consumption this year.

what's up gamers, i wrote basically one third of the total wordcount in two months, and it's mostly astarion. the downside of this thing when i wrote so much is that i never know which stories to pickkkk please check out my masterlist and read the rest.

you know the brainrot is really getting to you when you open your media tracker and you're like "oh right, i did that". i have no recollection of the months before november, but hey, there was stuff before astarion took over my life, check it out.

a lot of new media this year, a lot of strange stuff that hit me right in the guts. a seed of something that i hope to grow in the next year.

serials: more anime! kept following bnha s6, chainsaw man and blue lock as they came out. it's been years since i watched anime while they were airing. tried to do a bit of the community thing but i was too distracted with the end of the year review thingies to be consistent about it. in the last days a friend started making me watch library wars, which was a very good time. since i had a bunch of shit to sew (more news about that further on) i finally finished gentleman jack (i keep not giving a fuck about coal but she's the worst troublemaker), love, death + robots (meh. technically very good but the stories are underwhelming) and what we do in the shadows (just one season in but i'm having a great time) games: i bought a bunch of stuff taking advantage of the winter sales on steam! townscaper is the cutest shit. im still not touching dishonored, and wasted a lot of time on overwatch 2 once again. ramrattra is still so far away T_T reading: finished raven boys but got stuck on dream thieves - which is outrageous, it's the ronan book! i should be dying to read this! but i've struggled with Just Words. can't say the same with comics -- i re-discovered some old BL titles ive been reading on lezhin, some trashier than others lmao. my 2023 is looking fun.FANDOM
WRITING
oh what a good joke. of course i didn't write anything. i wanted to join the smubbles event on discord but i spent the month gathering up plots from various corners of my digital life. i decided it counts as writing. i hope 2023 brings more. oh i also made the writing review for the past year... it was bad but not that bad. silver linings.

i finished the goddang poofy shirt! and i did cosplay for the first time in forever! it was just a closet cosplay of harrowhark nonagesimus, little more than facepaint and dark clothes, but it was so fucking fun. i went completely insane and i decided to do more - so now im planning to make kim kitsuragi's jacket. i oredered fabric samples and everything. we'll see how it develops. i also printed out a shirt pattern to use up the left over linen, but i had to put that to a pause bc my friend asked an apron for xmas so i spent three-four days making that. i spent two full days hand sewing and watching tv shows. it was satisfying to draft a thing from the ground up and my friend was happy with it. it feels like a good omen.

serials: i watched a little more of gentleman jack, but this month i mostly rediscovered anime. my brain was too dead to watch 60 minutes long episodes but it was fresh enough to read subtitles, i guess! games: it was finally time to say goodbye to hades, i played it as much as i could until it turned unfun. i managed to reunite achilles and patroclus so im satisfied. i finally started playing dishonored and as much as im finding the general mood interesting and engaging, i suck so hard at this, you guys. im currently on like, six hours of gameplay and i haven't managed to clear the first mission past the intro. it's bad. shout out to overwatch 2 who is back to owning my ass. i cannot lie, i missed these guys. im not honestly finding much of a difference with the old one, beside the 5-people team and the fact that the battlepass is meh. looking forward to the new character, ramratta. i still love omnics so much. reading: i only read two books this months, but they were very nice in different ways. pyre at the eyreholme trust is a novella about magic and alternate roaring twenties, with a male on genderfluid romance. dirk gently's holistic detective agency was a struggle for the first half, but by the end i was reminded of what i really loved about the show so im glad. special mention to the webcomic cosmoknights, that was described to me like "same assignment as the locked tomb but different execution" and well, they're not entirely wrong: fighting the system, swords, lesbians. a rude butch with a golden heart. it tracks. and now, for the manga parenthesis.FANDOM
i haven't written much this month, only a couple thousand words of rewriting for the fisting fun with eskel thing i've been dragging around for a couple years now -- but i am starting poking around at my viper witcher oc's backstory. and i've written two book reviews and for the first time im managing to consistently journal every single day. i never really counted it as writing but i should. somehow.WRITING

finally finished the poofy shirt project! it took me months but it's finally done. i was much quicker than i thought, in the past week. goes to show that if i put my mind to it and stop panicking i can make stuff... a big help was discovering that i can sew after the sun goes down with a good enough lamp. it sounds stupid but my little brain was blown away. im going to have to think about stuff for the next month... and year. i have plans for a capsule wardrobe and maybe even cosplay?

introduction to t. kingfisher with the clocktaur war trilogy: i enjoyed it a lot and i had a very good time. then it was nona the ninth day! as usual, muir sent us for a loop. ive also re-read gideon the ninth and now im re-reading harrow the ninth, looking for clues… im a little behind with the goodreads challenge but i decided the rereads count! finished playing assassin’s creed brotherhood: the latest ezio sequences were a bit boring, i didn’t appreciate the apple of eden as a weapon. i really enjoyed the parts with desmond though. i ended up growing really attached to him, for some reason. im aware that he’s not present in the other games (and i can guess why :C) and i was warned against AC3 so mh, we’ll see. for now im going to focus on revelationsFANDOM

WRITING
i haven't posted anything, but i did some impressive progress on the infamoous ace geralt fic. i finally finished part 1 and part 2, and im putting a dent in part 3. hopefully by the end of june it'll be done. (i know i said it was going to be done by the end of may but eh. that didn't happen clearly. im also glad i finally started working on the novelization of the dnd campaign, dunya. it's a little unnerving, because im writing an original character on top of characters that belong to friends, but i'm having a grand time so far.
ART+CRAFT
the craft part was pretty much a complete failure, because i didn't get shit done, but on the art side i'm keeping up with the weekly digital drawing. i finally found a way to keep it consistent. i don't know if it'll work with the next set of subjects (flowers) but im gonna keep experimenting. i also practiced watercolor a little, taking advantage of movie nights with friends. i'm pretty proud of it.

lots of catching up, this month. this is us s5, which was long overdue lmao. as usual i enjoyed it very much, i think it's the only drama i can stand. dialogue and storytelling is always strong and it never fails to make you shit bricks on the finale. brooklyn nine-nine s8 was another thing that i kept putting off bc i didn't want it to be over. they picked a good time to end it, i think. you can't keep dragging a thing forever, and eight seasons is still a pretty long time. they stopped before it could turn bad and they did it well (winking a little at current times issues. good for them). our flag means death, obviously, bc everyone and their mothers has been talking and giffing and fanarting about it. i enjoyed it very much and it would be silly of me to deny how good it is, but my brain is still wholeheartedly devoted to my other blorbos so it hasn't clicked with me entirely. i thought i was going to be insane about jim but the magic wasn't entirely there (i do love vico ortiz though. call me). if i had to nominate a blorbo from this show (besides ed, who is basically default) i would pick lucius i think. yeah yeah i know. predictable.
in conclusion, bookclub time: we finished magnus chase, which ended on a strong, lovely note, and i finally dug my teeth in my first terry pratchett, pyramids. the general mood was 'what the fuck did i just read' but in the most positive way you could think of. the amount of layers of humour and commentary is astonishing.fandom
on the other hand, i posted a few fics that i wrote during february and march that just needed a bit of formatting:
WRITING
the goddamn ace geralt commission is finally going somewhere! i managed to get the first part to a somewhat final draft and im steadily chewing on part two. let's hope may will be the month it sees the light of day.
writing still feels like pulling teeth, and it doesn't help that i finally noticed how much i suck at endings. i knew that but hey. i also have no idea how one would go about at doing practice on that (other than writing, that is) (this sounds like a scam)
ART+CRAFT
i'm pretty satisfied of my progresses in this area. i finally attached the binding to the blanket; i have to fell three sides and then i'm done. i also bought the fabric for the shirt; it turned into a double project because i want a generic floofy shirt tm on top of the lambert shirt whose embroidery i still have to plan. i figured it might be a good idea to make a first, plainer attempt to familiarize myself with the process, before going for the complex one. (excuses, excuses. but no, really). also, i've been drawing digitally quite a lot, and i had a lot of practice with inks and watercolors; a friend got me a few inks and a fancy glass dip pen last year, but i didn't have time to try it until now. it's a lovely medium but my drawing skills are still too meh to really appreciate it. i need to practice more.
recap | march 2022
finally listened to/watched heathers the musical, which is a good, ironic, dark time. i finally finished reading bend sinister, which once again made me mad at nabokov because the guy is just too aware of language and of his own craft. (it pains me because he uses writing in such an expressive way and i would love to plagiarize the hell out of him for my own shit but it feels too pretentious for this century. i always feel like writing have to feel effortless, these days-- close to the way normal people talk and feel and thing, and a thing like literary nabokov doesnt sit well with that kind of aesthetic. my own writing strives to be quick and to the point, no excess.--not that im getting paid for it. not for the things that matter to me. but i digress).
also finally started magnus chase and yes, i fell in love with alex fierro. i was a fool. i waited too long. rick riordan once again demonstrates that he does the homework, thank you very much. im just missing the third book in the trilogy and i cannot wait.
watched doctor who s14 and as much as i love her, i don't think i got it. i don't enjoy it as much as i used to, i think, despite my fondness for the characters and for the universe. it's a pity.
it probably doesn't count as a fandom but since mr joey batey and miss madeleine hyland stuffed the thing with lore i might as well mention that i finally listened to ruin. i still need to chew on it i think. FANDOM
i wrote more than i expected but not as much as i wanted. im struggling a bit with getting words out and getting what i want, but i managed to write at least a fic per week for the challenge. better than nothing.WRITING
i finally finished the embroidery on the dnd bag! i wanted to start binding the blanket too but i keep procrastinating. i didn't go back to watercolor either, but i followed the list on the plant project. it's going slowly but the important part is not giving up.ART + CRAFT
